To Keep Your Employees Engaged, Be Curious and Challenging
Leaders play an important role in helping employees understand why their work is important, but this is not just about linking work to larger goals.
You can also do this by showing curiosity: explore, ask questions, and let people know what they think about the future. It is clear that there are many ways to work, and you want your employees to try new things. At the same time, let them focus on achieving goals and making progress.
Keep your ambition in the face of failure and success, and encourage your people to continue to do more work. You want employees to feel progress, innovation, and growth, which will bring a more meaningful and more positive work experience.

As a new manager, show calm
When you take the role of the first manager, people will pay attention to you. Your ideas, what you say, how you behave will have a direct impact on the people you lead.
Even if you feel a lot of pressure, it's important to keep calm, confident, and capable. Recognizing a brief anger or irritation may ultimately damage the morale of your team.
Think of what kind of manager you want to be, and remind yourself of the ideal in each interaction. Use your self - consciousness to perceive when you will be injured. If you keep a steady and down-to-earth existence, you will let your team be willing to bring you important information - even bad new.

When leadership changes, it is about the future, not the past
When you are introduced to a team or a business unit, you may feel that the team is against you. If your predecessor failed, how would you succeed?
First, in order to effectively lead the transition, you have to recognize that you are a member of the team and eliminate the emotions that you want to stay away from.
Although you should take advantage of your previous work, no one in a troubled organization likes to hear that "This is what I did in my previous company." But if you don't believe that they will bring positive changes, don't be afraid.
What you should do is how to clean up the mess, not make another one.

Talk about job skills required when talk about an employee's promotion
Conversations about the staff promotion conversation may tense -- whether on ask the person, or you are, so for all managers. Your first reaction might be to consider whether employees are "suitable" for this role, but it is bester to focus on their skills.
Ask yourself, what the people need to do to do this job? Then tell your staff answers. For example, you might say: "You need to develop specialized knowledge," or Excel, or presentation. This is a far better than "I don't know whether you have the ability to become a manager."
By decomposing this role into the skills you need, you will make the upgrade mysterious and make it easier for employees. In addition, it's easier to evaluation of employee upgrading management.

You can say good words of your colleagues at any time
No matter whether we are aware of this, we always have the opportunity to establish or reduce our colleagues. If we introduce two colleagues, told a conference on how to proceed, or share a colleague of the project, how we talk about others will have a great effect on their feeling and work.
Therefore, take the opportunity to actively talk about your colleagues. When introduced, to share some of the details, stressed how he is interesting, and describe them as other people may wish to know.
When you call for a new team, everyone about the potential contribution to the team.
If you see people interrupted or silence, by reaffirming their opinions or ask a question that they have the opportunity to speak to give them a chance to speak.
Always pay attention to these moments, and make full use of them. You are likely to get praise in return.

Don't let the immediate worries affect your strategy
Managers need to constantly balance the long-term and short-term needs of the company, but it is difficult to maintain the strategy when you face the problems in front of you.
In order to focus your next strategic meeting on the future, slow down. You need to know the facts for a long time, and the problems that must be solved.
Consider them from multiple perspectives before take strategic solutions. For everyone in the meeting room, each person may have different explanations for this problem. You may also need to discuss with several meetings, so you can better understand the data, discuss various views, and study meanings of different strategies.
When the strategy is put on the agenda, it is important to take a slower, more deliberate, and more participatory approach.

How to learn to authorize?
Many of us know the benefits of authorization: it helps the team to share the workload, so that managers can only focus on what they can do. But in fact, most managers may accumulate a lot of business and become a job bottleneck.
To solve this problem, must start from the general as a toddler. Often ask yourself, even every day: "What is the thing I can do only?" Can this task done by someone else? Try to delegate easy tasks or relatively simple projects to someone else, or, combine them to related major projects. But, you have to consider the work to compete with other priorities, time sensitive.
If you are still working hard, and hard to delegate, try this: List a list of tasks you may delegate within two weeks, and write them down when you think of them. This exercise will help you get closer to completing the tasks you need.

It's dangerous to set deadlines for innovation decision makers
We all know that there are benefits in developing innovation deadlines, such as helping us focus, sharpen our thinking, right?
Not necessarily.
Recent brain neurological studies have shown that in most cases, setting deadlines does not really make us more concerned about time and urgency because of increased stress and improve our ability to solve problems because of greater concentration. In contrast, we get stuck in our brains and can't really solve the problem.
The duration of work will not disappear, especially in a situation where all work is required to develop at a super speed. But researchers have found that we don't have to think like that. We don't have to think that hard, but we can think in different ways. For example, we can pause occasionally and ask ourselves, "If ... In case of... " Take some time to think about whether there is a good solution. Or think differently, for example, "How will our competitors solve this problem?"
Fear and uncertainty make things worse
This is no surprise. We are concerned that fear and uncertainty can make our decision-making worse. However, the main reason for our poor decision-making quality is not the atmosphere and facts of fear and uncertainty, but the attitude and hypothesis that we can not say.
If we ask people about uncertainties, most people think that something bad will happen. When we are confronted with insufficient information (uncertainty), many people respond by not making any decisions. The harm of inaction is as bad as making bad decisions.
How can we avoid such a mental impression?
Most of us tend not to make decisions in uncertain situations. Let's turn the situation into a point of view and see it as the dawn of positive development opportunities. Most importantly, understand that a decision is not permanent.
If you make a bad decision, you will always have a chance to correct it. In fact, even if you make good decisions, the market is changing very quickly, and you need to respond in a timely manner.
Therefore, we recommend that you review your strategic plan quarterly, preferably monthly. The more frequently you review your daily work, the more chance you have to avoid being dragged by your impressions.
Develop good mood
Most people think that decision-making is a cold, logical and rational process, especially in the business world. In fact, most of us admire people who can make key decisions based on facts. We also trust people who make decisions based on factual data rather than on unsubstantiated assumptions or personal preferences. This is a fact.
However, we also find that good decision-making quality often comes from the emotions of decision-makers rather than whether it is reasonable and logical. We found that although he also consulted various management analysis data, he already had preferences in his mind. He intentionally or unconsciously strengthens the reasons for his preferences, makes such decision plans and takes corresponding actions. Through social interaction, he enthusiastically stimulates support for his preferences. Because after more incentives and thinking, the people have increased their confidence, so he has won more decision-making support.
Therefore, good decision-making is often a "strategy to gain more knowledge and feelings, rather than a logical and rational strategy."
This gives us some suggestions:
The ability to change opinions is as important as the ability to analyse data and deduce logic. Emphasizing social thinking and looking at the world from the perspective of others is an important skill for leaders. Cognition alone is not enough. We must take the initiative to use them. We must deliberately ask other people's opinions, opinions, and ideas, whether they are in line with our own ideas or not. Otherwise, we will fall into the trap of our narrow vision and become victims of fear, fear, logic and endless deadlines.

(Chrisma Heroic Leader
