Cessation of the general meeting
A general meeting is usually a meeting in which everyone in the room agrees on a subject without controversy. However, the real good opinion usually comes from conflict and the pooling of different opinions.
Next time you chair a meeting, don't try to calm it down. Instead, focus on how to achieve your business goals. You just need to invite people who can really drive your goals, not people who have protective tendencies or just want to listen.
A good meeting conclusion usually comes from a thorough interactive discussion involving a rigorous cross-examination process. Instead of making sure you get answers in an hour's meeting, keep the unfinished issues open for discussion at the next "debate" session.
